This is a CIA (Channel Islands Audio) VDA 1 DAC and VAC 1 PSU for it.
http://www.revelationaudiolabs.com/c...m#ParablePower
The DAC has been modded by the previous owner with Blackgate FK & NX caps, Sanyo Oscon caps and dual OPA627 opamps. Thses mods are similar to what Modwright offers, but there are more caps replaced with Blackgates here.
I bought this DAC and PSU here about a month ago and can't believe I am selling it but need funds for a RWA Sig 30 to drive my H2s and home speakers. I have been meaning to post my impressions but honestly have only listened to it for maybe 5 hours. I just use my imod for everything as I'm always up and about. In the short time I have listened I can honestly say it's far better than the COEM modded Lite DAC AH I used to have. I was very happy when I first listened, same things everyone says about good gear, details I never heard, more freq. extension than ever before, big, accurate soundstage etc. All of it's true, you will be impressed! I haven't heard the VDA2 but would really love to compare them. According to the previous owner this unit sounds nothing like the stock VDA1 so it would be interesting to hear how it compares to the VDA2.
I probably shouldn't have bought it as I have since changed plans and just don't and won't use it but now I will regret selling it. I just figure the funds could be put to better use.
It comes with a 0.5m Revelation Audio Labs Parable Cryo-silver umbilical power cord which sells for $100 USD alone.
It works perfectly through optical and coaxial, I couldn't hear a difference in my limited listening.
I will include the DAC, PSU, Revelation umbilical power cable, a high quality 75ohm 24k gold plated digital coax cable I bought locally for $30, can't remember the brand, a clean and well cared for optical cable, a pair of RCAs that I made when I got the DAC (almost 12" tip to tip, Canare starquad, Neutrik plugs, techflex, nice), a power cable for Australia and one for the USA.
The AC jack on the VDA1 is slightly cracked as you can see in the pics but that has absolutely no effect on its performance and the cable sits tight and firm in it. Apparently happens to lots of VDAs. It would be really easy to replace the jack if you wanted to.
Some of the lettering on the back of the VDA-1 is wearing off from where a cable or something has been rubbing on it, see pics. The fronts are of the units are great.
There is an internal switch to set it to 230V (220 - 250) or 115V (110). I will set it for you if needed.
I have the original boxes and umbilical power cable.
Any questions let me know.
Looking to get $420 USD + actual shipping. Will get quotes, but I guess roughly $15 in OZ, $40 worldwide?
