How to avoid fake Sennheisers CX 300

at least in UK. I'm not sure if it is not 'yesterday news' but it may be still useful for many.

I wanted to buy them but ended up going for JVC Marshmallows after reading horror stories about the market flooded by fake CX300.

There is an offer on them now in Amazon.co.uk 15.99 GBP posted. This is an 'eco' version (which seemed suspicious to me), so I emailed Sennheiser to ask if they are genuine. This is the answer I've got:

Enjoy!

BTW I'm not related to Amazon in any way. And I registered to this forum to start contributing to this site, which I found very useful. Direct comparison between JVC and Sennheiser to follow shortly

Most fakes are on ebay. Its little difference. Logo is different size, lenght of cable is not the same...
I think that this thread may be helpful: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=257023

And also this thread:http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ead.php?t=8392

Edit: and yes that one from amazon is real.

All the info that has been available on the net till now is not much of a use for someone that wants to avoid fakes because it doesn't say how not to buy fake ones, instead it says how to tell if the ones you actually have are fake.

Fakes are mostly on Ebay, but they are not exclusive to Ebay There were reports stating that fakes were being sold by Amazon themself, in their marketplace, and all-over internet (and not only there).

So, if you don't want to have to test yours for fakeness buy eco Amazon ones, I wouldn't think they've been forged just yet.
