you need to connect your turntable to a phonostage, this will require RCA cables.

however, your turntable will most likely come with RCA cable attatched to it, so you will only need one set of RCA cables to go from the phono stage to the amp.

what is a phonostage? this is it, does it have an integrated phonostage in it?

edit: i see that it comes with a "phono preamp", i assume that is ok?

The Sony PSLX250H that you purchased has a built-in phono preamplifier and RCA cables. You don't need to buy anything extra.

A phono preamp is necessary because the signal coming out of the turntable is at a very low level, especially when compared to something like a CD player. The phono preamp amplifies the signal, and also runs it through a reverse RMAA curve equalizer--an essential process that restores the frequency content to its original position.

So basically, you're all set. Even though you won't hear vinyl's true capabilities with that particular turntable, it will at least give you a decent introduction to the format.
