Galactic's new album - my first rap album

I bought Galactic's new album and it's a rap album. Almost every track has vocals. For those of you who didn't like Theryl DeClouet's singing, you'll probably hate his album.

I've listened to it twice and I'm not sure what to think yet. It's a lot more musical that rap I hear blaring all the time, but it's less musical that the other Galactic albums.

This was on my list of things to buy, but then I heard some samples and wasn't impressed. I really like Galactic and have pretty much everything they've done with the exception of their other experimental release: Ruckus. I appreciate the fact that musicians feel the need to "branch out" and try new things, but this one doesn't work for me.

I liked Ruckus after a few listens. I'll listen to this album a few times more before passing final judgment. I am disappointed at the lack of instrumental passages. I didn't mind the vocals on the previous albums because they were scattered among the instrumental passages. This album is the opposite.

After the first shock, I like this album very much.
Well recorded too. Hard to find a well recorded rap album.

It's growing on me as well. I've never listened to much rap because the little I've heard is mostly bass thump and lousy lyrics. I've never minded when the vocals are essentially spoken instead of sung.
