ditto (i'm an NU alum). i'm also cheering for the teams ranked 10-17 in the BCS to lose...helps hawaii out.

OU barely squeaked out a W over iowa state. i bet they move up in the rankings next week. that's the kind of disparity i'm talking about with these "name" teams - people just look at their record and take it at face value. never mind that playing on the road in your conference is a tough proposition no matter who the opponent is! hawaii barely beats SJSU on the road (and SJSU has a better record than iowa state) in awful weather, and people put down the warriors.

all i've heard this week is how great OU is...i'm sure they'll get praised for coming through with a tough win on the road...never mind that iowa state is now 1-7

sadly, ASU's in a similar boat as hawaii...the tough part of the season is yet to come. and methinks both will be humbled.

I think I'm going to jump on the.... Oregon bandwagon????

ASU is not on the same boat as hawaii... if ASU wins out, they should be ranked #1.

For three straight weeks, LSU has played with fire; only burned once. Lester must be living right.

Who knows about this wacky season anymore? I thought LSU was the best team. Talent wise, I still think so, but talent isn't everything. It's more like 1A, 1B, 1C all the way to Z.

Despite their weak schedule, I told myself that if tOSU could run the ball through State's tough D-line, I'd give them number 1; more default than anything else. BC, Kansas, ASU still have to do a little more for this camper.

My little ballot for this week:

1. tOSU 2. KU 3. ASU 4. BC 5. LSU 6. USF 7. OU 8. Mizzou 9. Oregon 10. USC

Once again, I try to give credit for winning. KU and ASU might be top ten teams, but I have serious doubts about BC, OU, and USF's staying power.

i never said they were both on the #1 boat...they both have the tough parts of their seasons coming up. ASU wins out they may indeed be ranked no.1...though i don't think the pac-10 is nearly as talented as people thought they were (or still think they are).

if hawaii wins out they deserve to go to a BCS game, no matter what kirk "i only like big conference schools" herbreit thinks.

I never expected or said ASU would go undefeated, still don't think so. I think an earlier post of mine said they have a chance to win the Pac if they get help. So far the help is there, they just have to take care of their end of the deal. The positive side of the brutal remaining schedule is that they have Cal and USC at home. I think Oregon is the most impressive team in the Pac so far. Cal's D is not very good, USC isn't scary this year.

The Hawaii comparison is laughable, check out the conferences. The WAC is no Pac-10, sorry.

Anyone notice that another Big 10 school got beat by a 1-AA school? My mom's alma mater! Go Bison!

i don't think i ever compared hawaii to ASU or to any other pac-10 team, for that matter. all i ever said was that hawaii's done exactly what they're supposed to do - win. the comparison i did make was not in regards to who's better, but that both ASU and hawaii have the tough parts of their schedules yet to come.

and i definitely agree that top to bottom, the WAC is no Pac-10. but then again, i do remember hawaii kicking ASU's arse in a bowl game last year and i'm pretty sure that hawaii could do it again this year. i've seen ASU play a lot (i work at ASU!) and while they look pretty good, they're not that good. the pac-10 as a whole is not as good as people think they are. and i do believe that oregon is the scariest team in the pac-10 right now.

Indeed. Inexcusable, but by way of excuse, ND State is the best team in Div 1-AA. And there have been other conferences who have had 1-A schools lose to 1-AA schools this year. The Big 10, much maligned as it is, is likely going to win more than 80% of it's OOC games this season, which it has only done 5 other times.

The good thing about the "what conference is better" argument is that we get the bowls to really help determine the truth of the matter.

LSU, OU look over-rated to me after yesterday, although LSU less so - Auburn is a far better ball club than ISU is.

At this point in the season:

> Team I would least want to face in a bowl: Oregon
> Good Team which has impressed me the least: LSU
> Good team that has impressed me the most: Kentucky
> Bad team that has impressed me the most: Stanford, of course
> Bad team that truly stinks: Notre Dame

Once again, nice win by Vandy yesterday. Go 'Dores!

UCLA is downright strange... they remind me of Michigan actually... stink the non conference games, but play like they are capable of during during conference play.

Oregon lost some of it's best players (sadly) so SC might end up having a chance against them.

I'm surprised you guys are all over Oregon all the sudden. Their defense worries me (64 in nation), and besides Michigan (who was floundering at the time), they lost their other big test - Cal, at home no less.

They might be pretty good, but I want to see them beat SC and ASU first. Those teams' defense aren't going to lie over like U-Dub, WSU, and Stanford.

ASU has one first-place vote in the latest AP poll, yet still is ranked #7?

LSU gets that many no. 1 votes? they didn't look very convincing in this past weekend's win.
