Recommondation for 1/4" TRS to RCA Cable

Hey All,
Looking for a higher end cable to go from the 1/4" head out on my Yamaha receiver to my Grado RA-1 Headphone Amp (RCA)....so TRS to 1/4". I need about 20ft / 6 metres!

Any recommondations would be great!

Thanks!

There is no need to do that, as far as I know......if your receiver has either tape monitor outputs or something like a "Zone 2 Line Out" (as does my Onkyo, for a remote amplifier) that is what you should use.

Which Yamaha receiver?

I'm just using the HTR5940....it's connected to a surround system right now..so headphone out is my option no?

I sent you an email just now with a picture....in your case, I think the "CD-R/MD out" jacks are the best option, if your intent is to listen to a CD player connected to a receiver via the CD player's analog outputs (using an RCA-to-RCA cable.)

In some cases, those particular kind of "out" jacks only work if an analog input is selected.....if you have a CD/DVD player attached via only a digital cable (coax or TOSLINK) it might be that the "CD-R/MD out" has no signal present.

I'm not sure if you understand my application.

I use my computer via Toslink to the receiver and I also use my TV via my surround sound in the receiver....I just need a good cable to go from the Head Phone out jack to the RCA inputs on my Headphone amp.....

Now, I do understand your application....and yes, that apparently is your only option, because the analog audio out jacks on the back of your unit don't provide a signal from digital inputs (I downloaded the manual.)

What I suggested was the typical set-up for someone using a CD player connected to the analog inputs of a receiver (typical for stereo music listening) and would bypass both the volume control on the receiver and the headamp and give better results.

What are you trying to gain, though, by setting it up this way versus simply using the internal headphone amp in the Yamaha and an extension cable? Just to provide local volume control by keeping the Grado closer to your listening spot?

As I mentioned in the email, if you don't like the quality of the audio from the Yamaha headphone out, all the Grado can do is amplify that signal. And you will have to balance two volume controls.

I have no idea who makes a "high quality" cable like that, because it is an unusual requirement. DIY is your best bet, or just a 1/4" TRS to dual female RCA jack adapter (Radio Shack 274-893, shown below) and a long pair of standard RCA cables, or a 1/4" to mini TRS adapter to a long mini-to-RCA cable.
