I've been waiting on this for a little while. I game alot and still want to be able to hear my music so (hopefully) it'll be the best of both worlds. I'm gonna order it tomorrow, I'll post back when I test it out :]

Ah this thing looks pretty nice. Too bad I primarily use a laptop.

Any info on what the drivers are like?
the drivers, as far as I know, are still written by Creative. A cause for concern to be sure, though the specs on it are almost worth putting up with the drivers.

If this bashes Creative's X-Fi series over the head in sound quality, it'll be mighty tempting.

All early adopters of the Prelude are hereby instructed to provide reviews ASAP!

(What are you upgrading from Fiziks?)

it should be in my sig, not sure why it did not work on the OP post

I can put up with the creative drivers because I have dealt with them alot over time and can usually choke-hold or pin them into a corner where they will do what I ask :]

I'm very interested in this one, too. My audigy 2 card died on me a few month ago and ever since I've been using crappy on board sound ports. I thought about picking up an emu0404 but they don't have any gaming features. I wonder how it'll sound compared to 0404. Let's just hope that there's no shortage as I see a great demand across the web for this card.

meh. it is the same price as my fatality + PS audio superlink II dac. I'll put money on my sound being better lol.

I highly doubt that.

I'm waiting for some impressions of the drivers before I jump on this.

This could be interesting I guess:

OPAMP IC can be easily replaced with another one. The swappable dual DIP type Operational Amplifier(OPAMP) provides convenient do-it-yourself upgrade for ultimate analog sound quality and color.

Does it upsample to 48khz like Creative's X-Fi-based cards or do the digital outputs provide 44.1?

They use the same drivers as the creative x-fi series.
