Car accidents Suck thread

Thread Starter
I just got into a car accident today on the way home, and my car will need some major repairs.

It was the other guy's fault, but of course the other guy's giving a bogus story to the police officer. What's worse, I saw the police officer and this guy chatting and joking like they were buddies or something

Even if the decision goes my way, it is still a huge pain in the behind to wait for the insurance adjustor to give me a list of body shops I can go to, tow the car there, and wait and wait and wait. Right now, I don't know how I'm going to get to work tomorrow.

Man, it really has been a bad month for me. It's only been a couple of weeks since my house got robbed (yeah, it's the same old me).

Time to dig up my old Metallica albums...

Good idea! Life will go on either way. Sorry to hear about your accident. I was passing a major crash (turned over Miata) this morning, and that is what made me feel for you. I just happen to have the very same car and color, and once I got to work, a lot of folks were happy to see me, as they thought I may have been the one in the crash.

Also, I have had an incident (same car) many years ago, and remember the pain to fight the insurance company and the long wait to get the car back. Good friends helped out an lend me one of their cars to bridge the time and be able to get to work.

Good luck to you in getting everything resolved.

you cant really say it was the guys total fault, like my old driving instructor used to say. "Its your fault too idiot, you were there to get hit"
Anyways that sucks...... I havent crashed yet and i dont plan to in the future.

Good luck to you.

Don't I know it. I just had a new G35 totalled because some supid woman forgot to look where she was going. Smacked me in the back going about 50 (I was standing still), made me fly into the car in front of me, and sent two of her kids into the hospital with cut up foreheads. I knew there was trouble when the gas started pouring out of my gastank and onto the pavement, and sure enough, the car has suffered enough damage to the bodyframe with enough crumple zones, well, crumpled, that repairing it is basically pointless (more than $15k in repair costs).

Oh well, at least it was clear from the get-go that this was her fault, so I don't have to worry about fighting the insurance. Or I should say, this hasn't happened so far!

The worst part of it all is that a) her kids had to suffer for her stupidity, and b) she's now going to make a ton of money by suing Hyundai because her airbags didn't deploy (which is worrying by itself).

Hope everything turns out fine in the end.
In the meantime enjoy some music...

1st. Atleast you don't seem to be hurt physically, which is the main thing, metal can be bent back, bones and scars take a little longer.

2nd. Stick it to em!

You weren't injured, so that's a good start. I hope everything works out for you.

If you don't mind, can you tell us how did it happen? Usually in most accidents, it's obvious who is at fault regardless what their 'mock up' story is. Have you reported to your insurance? If you have full coverage, the best way is to claim it with you insurance and let them deal with the other party's insurance especially if the other party do not admit fault and try to get away with it. It has it's drawback, your insurance might have to raise rates. I said might since I've been on the same situation and claim it against my insurance, pay my deductible & have it refunded when my insurance able to get their money back from the other party, I don't have any increase on the next renewal. You'll need to check with your insurance on how to best handle this accident. Accident sucks & frustrating, good luck men.

I can relate. I totalled my car a couple of months ago & had to get a new car. My insurance was actually pretty easy to deal with & everything got worked out fairly easily. The worst part was that the accident was my fault. 1st time I've been in an accident that I caused & it was a sobering experience that really made me think & has made me a very careful driver lately. (though also pretty paranoid behind the wheel for a while) Thank God noone was hurt - but could easily have been very different. I don't know how I could have managed it if anyone had been injured seriously when I caused the accident. Anyway - served its purpose to make me more aware & grateful for small things and has me fastening my seatbelt every time I"m in the car - something I rarely did before.

So if you're at a stop light and get rammed from behind, it's not completely the other guy's fault?
