I kinda agree here. I used to buy Sennheisers all the time, until i took a chance on a company called Grado....... then Ultrasone........, then AKG.......then Stax..........., then Audio Technica........., then Crossroads Mylar........., and so on.

Now I've just ordered a pair of Yamaha headphones.

Be brave, dive into the unknown. that's why I'm diving into Yamaha. Being brave has brought me some great listening experiences.

I think the OP would love the iGrados from everything I've read.

I would recommend the KOSS "Sportapros", I use them for my portable player and they are outstanding. Best yet they only cost about $20.

I am new to this site and have never recabled a set of phones but I build module boxs for the V22 Osprey for a living and solder every day so I think I could handle it. I just never considerd replacing the cables on them. I don't have the older black Pro-35's anymore, trashed them years ago and the Pro-351a's arn't worth it, they are 100% plastic and are about to fall apart now. I spent $65 on the Pro4AAT's so I'm willing to spend that much or more on better phones.

If you're thinkable spending more buy some grados because most koss more expensive than the portapro aren't worth buying. Grado seem to be the next logical upgrade from your koss.

I picked up the pro35a's for $20 today at Radio Shack. They were still marked 40 but rang up right. They feel and look really cheap but they've got the ksc35 sound, as I remember it anyway, so I can't be too unhappy with them.
