Im not sure how much it costs in US, but Beyerdynamic DT-770M is designed for drummers. Its not noice cancelling, but closed headphone so it also protects your hearing from the mayhem of drums. Superb isolation.

Sennheiser HD280 should have damn good isolation too, and should be quite cheap.

Noise canceling headphones will NOT be effective in canceling the wide range of frequencies your drums produce. You want isolation, not noise cancellation. Look for a closed headphone like the HD280 or an in ear monitor like the Shure E2.

Agreed, noise cancellation technology is meant to subdue constant ambient noise, like humming in bus and such. For highly dynamic banging covering different frequencies, its pretty much useless. You really need isolation what closed cans or IEM plugs provide.

HD280 should be gotten for 80$ if you care to look around and ask around.

I have NO idea about reliability of that shop, but shows how cheap you can get one.
