Hello Head-fiers,

I am looking for an headphone at or under $75, new. I am going to be using them in a dorm, but it is not that noisy and my roommate is pretty quiet. I already have Iem's (The JBl Reference ones) and I used to have px100's (so-so) until they were destroyed by a friend. I listen to a lot of acoustic and mellow music but still listen to "harder" things too, and I am looking for a balanced or sweet sound. Preferably moderately comfortable.

Thanks,
xBeCoolx

Under 75$...tough. For that price, you would get an AKG K301 (or its successor K530) over here, but I fear they are more expensive in the US. Take a look, they should suit sonically quite well.

If you don't mind open style headphone. IMO, Grado Sr80 is the best for acoustic. (95$ though)
Should try them & you gonna love them.

Won't you be wanting closed cans that isolate so as not to disturb your roommate?

For open phones at or below your budget:
Grado SR-60
Grado SR-80 (used)
KOSS KSC-75
KOSS Portapro
KOSS Sportapro

For closed phones:
Equation audio RP-15MC
For a few bucks more, you could score their big brother (the RP-21s) used. I sersiously doubt you will do much better than the RP-21s for closed full sized headphones in that price range.
AKG K81 DJs, assuming you don't have any comfort issues with them.

For IEMs:
Can't help much since I haven't heard many IEMs at or below your budget range. Only one's I have heard are the JVC marshmallows (modded with the Shure E2C orange foamies), which I think sound pretty darn good when considering how little they cost.

For BUDs:
Yuin PK-2s are likely the best game in town.

Good luck.
