ER-4Ps are only $155.

This seems like an effort in futility though.

I still want something that sounds good (im sure there are some around $100 worth my time). I'm not expecting the quality of my UM2's obviously, but I dont like having $200 tied up in IEM's when i primarily use my HD595's.

Considering so far;

er-6i (possibly too bright/weak bass) - $75ish
Atrio M5 (good all around) - $130ish
super.fi 5 EB - $130ish
im716 - $75ish

I like IEM's in such places since they totally block out ALL the noise (especially on flights). I wouldn't be opposed to smaller closed headphones as long as they are light and travel well (in which case, maybe i should throw the ES7 into the loop - but are they comfy?)
well out of your selection its gotta be the atrio's as they will offer you the best sound you are into,and although i think they are some of the cheapest and ugliest lookin one of the nicest sounding! the er6i are very bright like all ety's,which ups the accuracy rating,lacking any real bass or punch

whats wrong with um1s? I haven't tried um2s but the bass is decent on them, good for ~100. A little muddy, but I would definitely call them fun headphones. Unless Im crazy, um2s are probably very similar, just more bass, more clarity, more refined. A downgrade is a downgrade, but at least you'll know pretty well what youre getting.

I like the iM716s well enough, and I'm a big fan of the UM2s. They're not at all the same, but they're pretty good, and can be had <$100.

More bass, yes. More clarity? I'm not so sure. The UM-2 isn't exactly the clearest IEM out there.

I like the UM-1 for its price point.
