do you get better isolation with the sony tips
post #857 of 1411
Just got mine today, actually it came on Saturday, but i wasn't at home even then it came 4 days earlier than scheduled.
Damn, does this phone sound good ? Totally killing my EP630
Great bass (very tight), warm high and mid, large soundstage for canalphone imo, less isolating than my EP630 (not a big deal as i got my E2C for that job ). All these compared to my EP630 that already burned-in. I will burn-in my Denon later tonight
Very happy for the 1st phone over $100 (still a long way to go ).

Congrats! Just wait for the bass to tighten up after burn in and the highs to really come through. =) Post more comments when you can!

Wow, this phone really reveal all the flaws in low bit-rate mp3 format .
Also this need more power than my EP630 by like 3-5 volume with my D2.

Anyone know where to buy the Sony's soft flex sleeves medium size ? I searched Amazon but i couldn't find it, i saw alot of shure's tips. I tried to avoid Ebay as there are alot of counterfeit there. thanks =D

in japan too, all i can find is pack of 3 with sml sizes, nothing that fits you just right, quite a shame.

Guess i have to rely on ebay for this matter. I've seen this seller selling 3 pairs medium sony's soft flex tips and it cost under $10 with S/H, so there won't be a big loss from it.
This phone is amazing, i can use them over the ear and they can turn 360 without a problem unlike my EP630. This will reduce microphonic to about 0 unless u really really try to shake the cable lol.

if looks are not terribly important, you can also tie the loose cable ends below your chin with the like of a twist-tie. i did that and other than feeling a little constrained, it was very good - nearly as silent as the westone models. the only problem is that still,t he cable is charismatic, always trying to move around and catch on stuff!

i did put it under my sweater or hoody in order to keep it from snagging on passersby for instance. cheers

Hi everyone! First post...

Don't know if anybody already try it, but i find my c751 with shure black tips (e2c) to be even more comfortable, they now isolate very vell and have a little more bass. (sorry for my bad english, still learning

After the burn-in, wow they sound amazing, punchy bass (tried it with a drum and electric bass from music recording at my church), more high and mid. Overall the sound is better than before burn-in imo.

wow, another d2 user. i used to have both the denon d2 and the denon c700. while i did not think they paired well, i hope that you can find them to be good.
My D2 and C700 loves each other as much as i love them both :P . i don't even have to use EQ, minor effects like BBE at 5, M3B at 2, others at 0, MP enchance on (can't really tell the difference so i just turn it on) while my EP630 need more effects.
D2 + C700 sounds much better than my PC (using Altec Fx-6021 headphone out). I can hear the hiss sssssss from it while on D2 i need to crank it to 30+ volume to hear the hiss (average use 10-20 volume).

meridius, have you looked at the links on the first page? You might find the info you want there. The Denon is a canalphone - if you need extra isolation, you may want to look at true iems that block external noise more. I don't have problems with background noise with the Denons. In fact, I found them to be as isolating as the super.fi 5 Pro (which IS an iem.)

But if you need more isolation, I suggest you look at other iems.

meridius: i don't want to interrupt this wonderful thread with an aside, but the denon as canalphones are not quite as isolating as other canalphones. they have a large open hole as you know at the end which helps with bass but, lets sound in a bit.

almost any other canalphone i have used with the same earpieces have isolated more than these but at expense of worse sound quality.

however, the kenwood c700 which some other manufacturers are using as an oem platform reach almost the quality of the kenwood (to my ears and to my music) but with not quite as nice a cable.

construction is of similar quality but i feel the housing unit and cable connection is better fit on the kenwood (it seems not as likely to stress as it has long relief rubber(. the cable is marginally more microphonic.

what sounds not as good is the soundstage which is smaller but has a bit better placement in some areas as instruments do not get left at the back as much as the denon.

on my portables, they do not seem to boom as much, so for trance they are better in my opinion. however, if you can get a dap that controls them well, they do not have as nice a dry sounding bass tap. they seem a little easier to drive though.

other than that, they are rather comparable. i think that denon's name also lends to the slight price hike. i think the kenwoods are available for 148 or so from audiocubes or tstation or some other importer. they are cheaper in japan, but the denon are not much cheaper here.

they isolate a little better, about the same degree as senn cx300 or so with a good fit, so for me, quite a bit better than the denon which do not much drown out a snap. i listen to music at low volumes i think as when i use them, i can hear basically anything at any time even with music playing if i use the denon phones. the kenwood emply a much smaller hole and do a better job of muffling out outside noise
