Official Denon AH-C700 Comparisons/Impressions - Page 54

Just got these little gems in the mail. Wow! Better than I had imagined!

Still too early for any final thoughts, but first impressions are very good!

They sound the best to my ears with the Loudness EQ setting on iPods.

I may give those another try. They didn't fit too well when I used them with the Vibes. I have UE foamies and orange foamies to test.

You showed up at Head-fi with just HD25-1. I'm looking at your sig line, and I think you are done buying new stuff. Buh Bye now.

Nah... Just kidding.

Hey, someone has been keeping track of me.

Actually I started with the RP-21's, then I replaced them with the HD25-1 looking for something more portable. I'm very happy with the Denon D2000 and Denon C700 (it's amazing how much quality can come out of something so small). I'm happy with the XM5 too, except there was a problem with the buffer sockets so I'm waiting for a replacement to come, after that I'll probably post a review.

SOLD them on eBay tonight. And meridius did bid on them but lost out to someone else on here. I suggsted he bid on a brand new set of C551s that were available, as they'd be a huge upgrade from his Sennheiser CX300 - but I think he's still looking for the C700s.

hey those who've had your c700s for some time now, have you experienced any deterioration in the cable? i've been using these on my daily runs lately, and i'm starting to get worried about the durability of these cables to sweat and all that. i do dry them immediately after my runs... mine still feel fine but a friend told me i could spoil the cable with prolonged use like that.

i'm thinking of getting a less expensive pair of sports headphones instead..was just wondering if any of u have experienced cable stiffness that my friend was talking about.

I notice you are selling the C700s for $100. Is that an extra pair, or did the Atrios once again trump another set of phones? Just curious.

they are indeed the same phones. i do like them but i am giving my ears a rest for a bit. honestly, i like them but for that size, id rather have a pair that are not halfer - either iem or earbuds, none of this in between.

i like them but i will probably eventually instead get the victors hp-fx500 that have wood in the construction. i find the aluminium in the denon to make no poor warbly sounds. though my favs, the atrios do that from time to time with their softer plastic construction, overall, they serve as a travel phone much better and for my music and players, never strike a bad boomy bass note.

indeed, i am selling the denon - though i find them the current gods of halfers and indeed, prefer their sound to the um2 and e500 as well - not quite as fatiguing.

So far I really love the things. Improved fit and isolation which of course makes the sound and especially the bass more pronounced and clear. The tips are very well built and are very soft. I highly recommend em. Will post some pictures of them when I find my camera Sunday afternoon.

Just do a search for "triple flange sony" on ebay.
I was just about to buy the Shure orange foamies even though I was hesitant due to the work needed to put them on (and possibly damage the C700's) but I just looked into what you were describing and I just ordered myself a pair. I'll post pictures for sure if I get them before you find your camera.

And don't forget to give them a 'half' twist when you put them in. You'll know they're at the right angle when the cable sits slightly forward of your ears. That half twist seems to 'lock' them in place better and gives a much better seal.

I also use mine for running and other sports. You should rinse the cable after your workout to remove the salty sweat deposits and then dry them. Of course, make sure you don't get any water inside the phones themselves...I just hold them (and the plug) in my closed fist and bath the cables in the sink (together with my heart rate monitor).

Yeah, I have no idea what happened to my camera. Maybe my ex has it for ransom.

But ya, do not buy the Shure foamies. The Shure IEMs tips dont fit. I also ordered a pair of Shure foamies last week along with the Sony triple flange tips, and they needed some modification with a knife just to fit. As you can tell it wasn't very secure. A good tug on the headphone cord would pull the C700 out of my ears but leave the foam tip in my ear canal.

The Sony triple flange tips though so far are bliss. I wish I thought of it sooner.
