fake ep630

Thread Starter
just got these in the mail today from a fellow headier and was suspicious from the moment i saw the package in my mailbox.

i ripped open the paper padded envelope to find them packaged in this (the bag was sealed when it arrived)

strike one

still giving these "creative ep630" the benefit of the doubt, i plug em in my bithead and insert them in my ears. i hear a strange crackling from the drivers. i think we all know that sound.

strike two

here's a picture from the creative website

note that the line in the silver part is not centered.
here's a picture of mine

in fact...the silver ring just slid off the earphone

i'm almost positive that these are fakes and the seller tried to convince that they're real by sending me a copy of his amazon receipt. i did a little research (search button ftw) and found out that fake ones have surfaced even on amazon

so...fake or not fake?

FAKE, 100%.

You are right about the silver ring not being center. also 1) The silver ring shouldn't reflect light like that, the finish is wrong. 2) The nozzle is longer than usual. 3) The ^ logo is larger than usual. 4) I has seen every kind of EP-630 packaging, and silvery package isn't one of them.

[EDIT] Check out the link of MylarOne X3 in my signature, you can find a picture of the real EP-630. Look carefully on the ^ logo and the finish of the ring.

they sounded pretty bad. the bass was overpowering and the treble had not sparkle or brilliance.

AFAIK they're fake. The lines on mine also are off centered and their sound is balanced and very good.

rofl, creative ep-630's balanced, funniest thing since George W. Bush becoming president. The real ones do sound good though.

yeah i had a brush with fake e4g's as well.

ive realised that it's best to buy from a legal store, such the ones linked here, of maybe even from users here.

ebay is becoming full of fakes which is sad
