This amp is no longer in production and virtually never shows up on the used marketplace. It was hand-produced in small quantities. I’m reluctantly parting with mine because I simply don’t listen to headphones much anymore. Check the forums to see glowing reviews of this revered classic.This unit is in excellent condition and was recently inspected by Eddie Current. New resistors and caps were installed during the inspection. In addition, stand-off supports were added by the factory to the PCB boards to stiffen them against vibration and alleviate pressure when inserting and removing tubes. The circuit was also slightly modified by the factory to drive the output tube less aggressively in order to improve the sound quality and extend tube life.
This amp can also serve as a preamp; it has pre-outs and multiple inputs (selectable on the front panel opposite the volume dial). The power supply is located in a separate chassis. The HD-300 is truly top- notch design.
One cosmetic issue I need to mention is that there is some “bubbling” on the front finish (no chips or scratches – just sections of the front surface - between the red power light and the volume knob - isn’t totally smooth). This was how the unit arrived.

All tubes are tested (in my Hickok tester and in the amp itself). If you know anything about 6SN7s, you’ll recognize there is quite a few extremely rare and expensive tubes packaged with the amp. This is $700 worth of tubes; Total value of everything is well over $1,400.

Also available is my like new Sennheiser HD-600 (with all original packaging and documents … used perhaps 100 hours tops) and a VH Audio Flavor 2 power cable which I used with the Eddie Current. If purchased separately, I’m asking $150 for the Senns and $50 for the power cable. Will sell both for $150 if purchased with the EC amp.
