I love bass impact and slam.
That said, I present to you, the Beyersmile Beta 1!

Edit: Beta 2! With transparency!

In Bloodwood.

Hehe, be careful for what you ask for. I have the V3 Opens, and the bass and bass slam is MASSIVE.

I have a pair of open and closed Darth Beyers, but both of mine are Deep-Cup, and that isn't something you can get except via the Headphile "Deals" page.

In general, though, the open DBs have a wider soundstage, and are a little mellower overall. They have less treble energy, and are slightly warmer. They maybe have a little less bass. I do prefer the closed version, but again, mine are deep-cup, which in themselves sound somewhat different from normal DBs.

What about effects on instrument separation and detail? Also are the mids different between the two?

It's actually a little hard to describe. I think the closed ones have better detail in the treble, abd better image specificity, but the soundstage is wider with the open ones, just less distinct.

In this case, I wish I'd get what I ask for, because I'm using the ES7 now, and although it has a very nice kick to it, I just want more.

And to think that I almost bought a K701...

Hello there,

I own a V3-O, I feel the openness give the Darth's a more "live" sound, much wider soundstage. When plugging the holes with my hands I feel there is more details, the bass is however not increased in my opinion, the closed version is somehow more laid back.

I feel that the bass stand the same in term of impact/quantity, if not more present but not as tight. The opened version is more colored from the closed state. You should probably own both.

I heard quite a few persons buying the V3-O with the plugs (and BTW they do not sound the same as fully closed) and the majority reported not using them.

After buying the opened version I do not regret not getting the closed one. Actually I am interested in those with wider holes in the deal page.

Just my 2 cents,

Charles

Man that is such a true statement my ears hurt when i listen to these closed v2.0 darths but they sound so good but they hurt my ears. but they sound soooo good that i am suffering and thats why i think open would be better there is so much good bass in these they dare i say it could lose a little bass and then i think the opens will sound perfect vs these.

I DO wish Larry at Headphile would post on this thread to explain the differences. I know what y'all are saying; just would like to hear from the developer/designer of these 'phones

"Live" sound huh? I guess that won't be soo good for progressive house/trance/dance music....
Closed has more details? Good.

Now I can't wait to place my order at the end of the year...

@tnmike1, try to PM Larry and get him to reply here, this thread will be useful to future members who can't decide between the two.
