The soundtrack that brought reggae to the rest of the world who hadn't really been listening before 1972 or 1973!

Really. The soundtrack to the film "The Harder They Come" is an essential introduction to reggae. It was released in 1972,  and then 1973 in the U.S. It is really the record that introduced reggae worldwide before Bob Marley got famous. It is absolutely essential listening. Trust me. It is fabulous.

Bought it on CD yesterday after waiting forever for prices to come down at brick-and-mortar stores. The album packaging is probably the most frustrating thing in the world, made up of a bunch of pieces of paper shoved into a plastic envelope. If you try to get the CD sleeve out, half a dozen photographs and acknowledgements pages come with it.

Still, though, the music is as great as you would expect from a project that Byne was involved in.
