I'm a big fan of Richard Davies, have been since the '94 Cardinal record with Eric Matthews, and his three solo records, especially the excellent first two, There's Never Been A Crowd Like This and Telegraph, but for some reason never felt a compulsion to check out what he did with the Moles before all that. Turns out that the last Moles record pictured above was probably more akin to a Richard Davies solo debut, and sounds very weird and cool. Very much a 60s psych-chamber-pop sound. Nice stuff, and very nice sounding too. Been listening to it a lot lately, along with the later ones.
