YUME - 2013 - Compilation

https://yumexo.bandcamp.com/album/2013-compilation

Other than this being a Bandcamp release this isn't specifically related to this EP (do listen to it, I like it quite a bit), but what I've found myself thinking lately is that if I had to live the rest of my life only being able to listen to music that gets released on Bandcamp, I think I could do that and be a happy man. I believe that speaks volumes about how much I love Bandcamp, and that's before mention all the other things that are great about the site. The fact that a lot of people still haven't even heard of the site is truly unfortunate.

Agreed.  Jarrett's recordings are some of the most amazing piano performances you'll ever hear.  Sometimes I'm distracted by his moans, grunts, etc...I know some people love that and think it's great...I personally could do with less of it because sometimes he starts moanin' and wailin' for several measures at a time.

When I was first getting into jazz and classical I disliked the recordings where I could hear the pianist's vocalizations, because I didn't understand what those sounds were and mistook them for random noises that occurred in the studio and could be heard on the recording. I kept wondering "who the heck let's people talk in the background when music is being recorded?". Then when I finally realized at some point I was in fact hearing the pianist him- or herself humming along to the tune, or moaning and grunting because they were so in the moment and were simply so excited about what they heard that they couldn't help themselves, my position took a complete turnaround and now I have no issue whatsoever hearing musicians' vocalizations on tape. On the contrary, I rather enjoy it and feel it adds to the performance. Once I realized those sounds weren't something that wasn't intended to be heard, all of my negative feelings disappeared in an instant.

+1 -Another Bandcamp fan here. Between BC & Spotify I'm (almost) not buying CDs anymore!

You should check out SoundCloud if you like Bandcamp.

Yip - I do occasionally find some stuff over there as well. Plus Hdtracks and Acoustic sounds for  DSD - who needs CDs?! :gs1000smile:

Kiss Allive 2 via MOG.  Stumbled across it and decided to relive a bit of high school.  Kiss really kinda sucked...

I actually buy a lot of CDs and LPs from Bandcamp. I have Spotify installed but almost never use it for several reasons, one of the biggest being that the artists get paid hardly anything at all, which is the exact opposite of BC. Bandcamp only takes a 15% cut from digital sales, 10% if you've made more than $5,000 over the past 12 months. I believe iTunes Store for example takes a 30% handling fee from all sales.
