Oh my. My childhood video game of choice: Mega Man 2 on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Interesting remixes. I like the Bubble Man one the most, but the Password Screen also brings back a lot of memories after dying so much in the game. XD

No wonder why I like the Bubble Man song so much:

I've been listening to this again-thinking about gifts for the holiday.

If you don't know the back story, it's rather interesting. Dylan moved from folk to electric in 1965. After his final 60's masterpiece, Blonde on Blonde, In 1966 he suffered from a near fatal motorcylce incident.

After his accident he disappeared for several years.

He then released two country influenced albums-John Wessley Harding and Nashville Skyline.

Dylan, then began playing wih old traditional folks songs. He released Self Portrait. It was universally panned and despised. Basically a poorly thought out mix of covers and live cuts. People thought he was trying to sabatoge his own career.

NOW, OVER 40 YEARS LATER, Dylan has released the last installment of his bootleg series called, Another Self Portrait, apparently in an effort to reboot Self Portrait for some redemption. And, in my judgement it is a success.

This is a box set of unreleased recordings from 69 -71 that include alternate versions/outtakes and public domain folk songs, and  unreleased originals, from the recording sessions of Nashville Skyline, Self Portrait and New Moring. There are several versions. I have the basic two disc set which is perfect.

And.....it's fantastic. This is Dylan largely reinterpreting folk snogs as only he can do.

Another Self Portriat-released this year playing with a variety of musicians including Robbie Robertson (of The Band) , and two songs from a session with George Harrison.

The music flows and is coherent-minimal & spasely arragned and sounds very good. This is a napshot of an artist in transition-looking to the past for inspiration, playing with brilliant musicians. Given the popularity of modern folk, this sounds relevant, new and authentic.

I wasn't crazy about it at first, but slowly growing on me. Any fans of this album?

"The Definitive Collection" - Joe Walsh - For a compilation, the older songs on this album seem to be mastered fairly well.
