John Coltrane Quartet - Crescent [Original Recordings Group 45rpm 2 LP]

Man I love vinyl. It's already past midnight here but I felt I absolutely had to hear some vinyl tonight. It also simply had to be Coltrane. Of his records I currently have on vinyl what better choice for late-night listening than his often overlooked Crescent – possibly my favorite of his. This issue is simply sublime, so full of life the music instantly captivates the listener. Jimmy Garrison's solo on Lonnie's Lament is a true showcase of the incredible amount of spatial detail on this pressing. Not only can I hear the notes he is playing but also with my mind's eye I can "see" his fingers move as he plucks the strings. I can "feel" the presence of his double bass in the room and exactly how it radiates the sound. Truly an ear-opening experience if there ever was one.

I love Crescent and it's one of the albums that I can just loop on and on. You've picked a great midnight choice! :beerchug:

I have a long night of music and my Q701 to look forward too. The girlfriend is out of town for the night, so it's a music night.

So lets start this off with a brand new addition to my catalog:
