Here's a Mike Brecker appearance I didn't know about.  Joachim Kuhn is doing a McCoy on 'roids impression.  Got this through U.S. amazon from Berlin (!).  20 bucks w/ s&h but I had some points.:D

Next, I listened to this 1973 LP which has deeper bass (!) than the CD I have.  I had foolishly gotten rid of the LP ten years ago, played the replacement CD and was horrified, yes, horrified.

Just finished listening to:

Tom Kerstens - Utopia

This is the only album I've heard from Tom Kerstens so far but I like it a great deal. For this album he commissioned several new pieces from modern young classical composers, but while still remaining classical music at its core, each composition also blends in influences from other forms of contemporary music. The end result is very interesting and quite accessible in my opinion. I would highly recommend this record to fans of acoustic guitar even if you don't normally find classical music easy to get into.

Next up:

Nobuo Uematsu - Phantasmagoria

I remember listening to this a lot back in high school. I would put it on when I went to bed and it would help calm me and relieve my stress. Nobuo Uematsu is the person whose work got me interested in music in the first place so I owe him a great debt of gratitude. His music is also one of the main influences for my cousin who is striving to be a musician and is currently working hard on his debut album. Sadly this album does not seem to be available on the iTunes Store, and unless there has been a resent reissue of the CD I imagine it might be reasonably hard to find even in Japan these days. I got my copy about a decade ago and even back then it was not necessarily easy to acquire.
