It's weird how much better this slightly noisy LP sounds than the CD re-issue.  I'm certainly enjoying it tonight.

I'm surprised it took this disc to make me realize how great the bass response is on my 803 Diamonds. Normally when I think about bass the words that come to my mind to describe it are things like "precision", "impact", "depth", and "tightness". Never would I have associated a word like clarity with low-end; that's something that's reserved for midrange and treble. But that's exactly what the bass on the 803s has: clarity. There's a whole another world of musicality in the lower frequencies that is hard to distinguish, but when listening to an artist that has gone through the effort of putting all of that loving labor down there you can only smile as you let the sound wash over you.
