Kenny Dorham - Quiet Kenny

I am convinced of the amazing quality that XRCD provides. It really is such a warm tone that isn't harsh to listen to at all. When I first heard the Lotus Blossom demo via Elusive Disc's website, I was dreading the pan of Kenny's trumpet. I feared it was going to be like an Atlantic Record release, but I was proven wrong. I highly recommend this release from JVC's alternative red book format. Definitely worth the investment.  I also have to compliment the package. I expected a jewel case, but was pleased to see a hard case cover. Being a hard cover made it open and feel like a book. In this 'book' contained a small overview of the album along with process JVC goes through to produce their XRCDs. It really is fascinating.

I'm glad to hear you found the XRCD a worthy investment – I knew you would.

Currently listening to this.

Probably the opposite of an audiophile recording (I take that back. Despite its nature, this still sounds better than most modern CDs. Sad but true.) although I doubt you can record Gameboy-generated sounds with higher fidelity than that has been done here. What comes to the music, there are simply no words to describe how awesome this album is.

That's a good one-kind of a guilty pleasure-spoken from someone who was in HS in real time when they were on the charts. Rock music-even hook laiden, pop oriented rock was actually good back then wink_face.gif

OK-the cars aren't a GREAT band, but they were a lot of fun...I file them in the same category as Billy Idol-pop post punk/new age music with charismatic singers and a guitarist that could really bring the hooks as well as a little RAWK energy.
