Bit depth has no impact on the frequency response, sampling rate do. And you are right, a lot of the music on HDTracks are just standard resolution data wrapped in a high resolution package.
This might be a good occasion to educate oneself on what all these terms and numbers mean. Xiph.org has a very nice show and tell video on this subject.
Could you specify which HDTracks albums?
Finally listened to this album (The Raven That Wouldn't Sing) all the way through. It is outstanding!
The only negative is that headphones/2-channel just dont do it justice. The 5.1 DTS HD Master is by far the best way to hear it.

im not a fan of 5.1 i think its a bit of a gimmic. like 3d moves
Alan Parsons (The recording Engineer on Pink Floyd's DSOTM album) and his group, the Alan Parson Project have recorded 18 group or solo albums since the 1970's.
I would highly recommend checking them out.
