I went to an UNLKE gig at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London when they released Never Never Land. I was wearing at Zoo York Futura 2000 jacket...

and jeans with Futura 2000 graphic. In the crowd I met this guy who was Ian Brown who chatted to me as I danced like a UNKLE bilboard. Turned out to be a really sound geezer. Good times smile.gif

Earlier today I was continuing what I started yesterday by purchasing the prequel to the Disappearing Appearances album I discovered yesterday. Perhaps not quite as good, but definitely worth two dollars.

At the moment I'm enjoying another great random find I made on Bandcamp. This is a just released, stunningly well recorded, mixed and mastered J-pop album which in addition to the digital release is also available as a limited edition CD which is limited to just 48 copies(!). Comes with a song-specific bonus insert art of your choosing hand-pixeled by the artist herself. Do I even need to say I went for the CD?

Shelby Lynn

Her latest album may have been titled "Revelation Road," but Shelby Lynne has always been tight-lipped about discussing her personal life in public -- until now, that is.

The 44-year-old country star recently sat down with The Boot writer Stephen L. Betts in what just may be her most intimate interview yet, even touching on her sexuality which has been the subject of rampant media and fan speculation.

After Betts told the famously private Lynne that he was gay, the singer noted:

"I've been around the world and back so many times, I think everybody's gay. Everybody's a little gay. As far as my personal life, I don't go into details because that's all I've got. With the person that I allow out in the music, that's plenty.

But I am secure enough to say that of all of my relationships, I've covered the boundaries. [laughs] I don't think there's any need anymore in our time and era for titles or brands ... because either way you try to sensitize it, somebody's going to be offended. So the best thing to do is just be who you are and be proud of it and hopefully everybody can love who they want to love."

She then went on to note:

"It's not what you want to announce to the world -- and if you do, that's great -- but you don't have to. You don't have to be labeled something, in society's terms. You just need to be. That's what I would tell young 'uns and people that are struggling, who say, "I know I'm gay but I can't come out because of my family or whatever." Just decide. You don't have to be under any rules. It's OK to be a freak. Be proud of your freak-ism, man."

^^^ Thanks for posting that interview. I have tons of respect for her and her sister (Allison Moorer) and what they have gone through in their lives.

It's unusual for me to find myself interested in artists personal lives and such, though perhaps in the interest of our contemporary national discussion on the issue of equal rights under the law, I felt compelled to post the word here of an admired songbird, Shelby Lynne

An exceptional recording here,  in any event .

Honestly wasn't aware of her trials in early life and that of her sister , which I am sorry to hear .

Such a lovely voice L3000.gif

Interesting, that's for sure.  Saw their song Keelhauled on YouTube and decided to give them a try.
