Can't say I know, but it wouldn't surprise me other way. It's a very "hip", sharply produced album which I would expect to hear playing at Starbucks. That said, I really dig it. The reviews mentioned PJ Harvey, Sioux, and Kate, so I picked it up off that. However, songs like "The Wizard" really give me a Tori Amos feel with vocal tiers and held notes. I think some of the lyrics are a little clunky especially during the more personal songs like "Sad Eyes". Eastern flourished third person, slinky bass tracks like "Sarah" make it up for for me though.

Solid.

Yea, probably should mention that to the guy asking about the Bjork-like music playing at Urban Outfitters, wouldn't be surprised if it was the bat girl. Maybe he reads this thread. Just got an email from amazon this morning recommending Bat for Lashes, but it's because I must've bought the Feist record there, and can't say I'm totally in love with that record, but it is pretty good, if kind of insubstantial. Thanks for the extra stuff. Funny, at amazon it's the only CD I can remember where they have a photo section after the description. Guess she must be pretty "hip", huh?

Anata - The Infernal Depths of Hatred

wow. this album is amazing. and such a family-friendly album cover too!

Wormed - Planisphærium

just as amazing as the last one, way shorter. the death vox sound like a frog/didgeridoo hybrid.

basically i am working through the death metal i acquired over the past few weeks. i'll take a folk break after anata:

James Blackshaw - O True Believers

my highest recommendation. an amazing guitar player. major robbie basho influence.
