Beyerdynamic LEATHER PADS now AVAILABLE - Page 6

IMO:
dt990 - Velour is a must
dt880 - Prefer Velour over Leather
dt770/Darth - tend to prefer Gen. Leather.

I personally prefer the leather across the board. I don't find the same deleterious effects other people seem to find. Lucky me, I guess. It does change the sonic signature to be sure, but for me, always for the better overall.

My leather pads are plenty genuine; they came direct from Beyerdynamic in the US. I suspect that leather pads ordered through the Beyer US "Aviation" website are meant for headsets and as such don't come with the vent holes in the backing. Anyway, I personally feel that the stock velour pads are a bit thin on the low end with the 880s, wonderful as they are.

Interesting, looks like Manufacture pads ARE different, because my pair arrived with all these holes.

Andrew_WOT, since you're not a huge fan of the leather pads, would you be willing to sell yours to me? I have a pair of DT831s on the way and I'd like to have leather on them (not to mention non-DIY venting). ... or anyone else looking to offload a set of leather pads...

It's made a world of difference and my 880's sound absolutely amazing now with the leather pads.
Sorry, I forgot to take pictures and I'm reluctant to remove the pads for the fifth time, but I will if anyone is particularly interested...
I am using these pads on my RP-21s and I am thinking about doing this. Does anyone that is using the Manufacture pads that have the additional holes with their RP-21s know if adding more holes would lead to similar improvements in SQ?

Could someone with the Manufacture leather pads post some pics of the pads' undersides so enterprising Aviation-pad owners can accurately reproduce them?

I was wondering if anyone had the gel pads yet and if they would be willing to post impressions?
