Little Dot MK IV SE vs Woo Audio WA6

Granted, there is quite a price difference, but wanted to get your opinions on these two tube amps:

1. Little Dot Mk IV SE
2. Woo Audio WA6 (stock)

Apart from looks:

LD Mk IV SE:
- OTL
- upgraded components (from the Mk IV) e.g. Vishay-Dale resistors, ALPS potentiometer, Nichicon, Rubycon, and German WIMA/ERO capacitors
- Neutrik locking headphone jack and American CMC gold plated RCA jacks
- 2x WE408A and 2x E1822CC tubes
- Weight: 7.7 lbs (if it is any indication)

WA6:
- transformer coupled
- stock caps (none of the upgraded ones for budgetary reasons) but has Alps potentiometer and Dale and Vishay resistors
- 1x 5AR4 and 2x 6DE7 tubes
- Weight: 13.5 lbs

Will be used with a few headphones, both low impedance (40-50 ohm) and high impedence (250-300 ohm)

Thanks in advance,
X

Lets see. Shall I have the Fillet Mignon or the Lobster Tail?

I'm thinking WOO but I'd like some of their upgrades too...then there's the Eddie Current HD25, Jan Meier's stuff, Ray Samuel's and so on....I'm sooooo confused!!

Trying to stick the above two for the moment (and also to tubes, not SS)

Voted for the Woo becaused I've always liked his stuff. Went from WA1 to WA3 and finally WA2

Woo6 + the upgrades. No kidding.

Too expensive - WA6 stock is already pushing it, so upgrades not viable.

To be used with a selection of cans from around 60 ohm to 300 ohm. Shipped price ends up being ~$660 for WA6; ~$460 for LD Mk IV SE.

The poll is clearly bias. Unless one have tried BOTH amps, he/she can't really say "which is better." And being a relatively new product, the mk iv se will obviously be exposed to less people. Just do your research, read reviews for both items and go on from there.

Hmmm....I wonder how many Mk IV SE owners there are out there. Thus far I have just seen one review here, and one at Headphonesrock.

I found this poll from August, when the Little Dot MK IVse was new.

But this is my question, too, looking for my first tube amp for my K701s: Woo Audio 6 vs. LD MK IVse?

So, now that more people have experience with that model Little Dot, what's your take on this either/or?

Dave, who lives in the New York area which disposes him toward the Woo but also has been happy with his solid-state Little Dot MK V

I don't understand why he is using regular cheap transformers on a $570.00 amp (W6). Other tube amps like DV use toroidal transformers, even in the $120 Figaro.

This I find is a downside. For sure this introduces distortion to the sound.

What regular cheap transformers are you referring to? It has output transformers and a toroidal power supply transformer.

I can't see the other one up on top. It may be a toroidal? Maybe they don't need to be toroidal?

below you see the Figaro and the W6 intenals.
