Yep, I have had the best of luck with UPS tracking - top notch. The other day I was at work and I was on the phone with my wife. She said the UPS guy just pulled up and dropped off a package. In the meantime I had been tracking the package on line. I made a mental note of the time she said the package arrived (3pm). The online tracking info was updated and showed as 'delivered' 20 minutes later - not too shabby.
As for USPS, I agree, don't even bother paying for a 'tracking number'. They supposedly have some sort of tracking system in place, but of the times I have used it, it was just about worthless and a complete waste of money. Just go for a delivery confirmation and hope for the best.
