all the AT's titanium, woodies and leather offerings are made in japan.

No one can be sure where the Ety ER4 are made now as the "made in usa" label has been removed (i suppose that means they are no longer made in usa)

all beyer portables (DTX series) are made in china while the lower DT series are made in taiwan.

most AKGs are now made in China except the most expensive ones like K501-701, K171/271, K240 and K181. all portable AKGs as well as those from K530 downwards are made in China except the newest buds, which are made in vietnam.

sony 7506/v600/cd900 are no longer manufactured in japan (though they are in the past). they are made either in china or philippines.
thanks for the update!

Just for the heck of it I decided to see where my stuff is made and this is what I found out:

Audio-Technica ATH-A900 - Made in Japan
Audio-Technica ATH-SJ5 - Made in China
Audio-Technica ATH-EM7GM - Made in Taiwan
MB Quart Phone 85 - Made in West Germany
MB Quart Phone 70 - Made in West Germany
AKG K340 - Made in Austria
Stax SR-Lambda - Made in Japan

I also looked at my other stereo equipment, and let me list a few brand names and countries of origin:

Entech - made in USA
Apogee Acoustics, McCormack - handmade in USA
Audio Matiere - handmade in France
Grundig - Made in Portugal
Stax, Pioneer, Onkyo and C.E.C. - Made in Japan
S.A.P. - handmade in Italy
Samsung - Made in China

All of my equipment is very old and I guess we can see the trand all of the new things are made in china Sadly almost nothing is handmade anymore

However the lower-end headphones and the super.fi/metro.fi series are made in china.
My 555s were made in Ireland but the 595s that I have are made in China. Funny you mention the k81dj. Mine was made in Austria

Sorry, but I don't really agree with that picture. Although I live in the US, all my relatives are back in China, and in all the trips I took back there I never saw something like that before.

Imagine someone coming to the US, stays solely in the ghettos, then goes back and tells everyone about it. That's pretty much what Americans do with China.

I don't think where a headphone is made has any bearing on its performance. Nowadays, many facilities in China are kept up better than ones here in the U.S. If you doubt that, just look at pictures of Grado Labs.

Back in the 50s, no one wanted to buy Japanese products because they were considered crap. Now the best electronics are made in Japan. In another 5 years, the best electronics will all be made in China.

My Denon AH-D5000 were designed in Japan, but made in China. They are some of the best cans I've ever heard.

Ultimate Ears also makes a lot of their products here. I believe the Triple.Fi and all of their customs are made in their facilities right here in southern California. Their Super.Fi line is made in China though. They may even be making the Triple.Fi in China now too, but their first production run (the 1,000 limited editions) was made here I think.
