As soon as I get it back from the power supply upgrade, I'll try to make it to a get together somewhere around the east, or maybe Chicago depending on my schedule. One good thing about having 9 siblings is I've many places to stay for free. 8-)

I'll have my Edition 9's and maybe a TakeT H2 and transformer depending on a bunch of things falling into place.

Just noticed you're in White Plains. I've a brother in Westchester County. I get to his place now and then. We'll have to stay in touch. Or maybe have a mini-meet in the area.

Just wanted to add this quote by Ti Kan the designer of the Beta22. The quote comes from a DIY thread where I didn't think it would be seen by enough folks.:

"Kevin Gilmore once said that as far as headphone amps like the dynahi or β22 are concerned, there is no commercial equivalent. While it's not cheap to DIY one of these, a commercial version would have to be up in the $6K-$10K per unit range. It is unclear whether such a product even makes business sense.

At any rate, Tyll Hertsens and Ray Samuels were very impressed with the β22".

Another interesting comment in the thread alluded to the fact that unless one is active in DIY, most folks on this board would have no idea of the quality of available DIY designs.

IMO, DIY designs, even when done by a paid builder, are dollar for dollar, the best values available anywhere.

Beta22 as power amp

I ask you gently if you have used this balanced amplifier as power amplifier with a lodspeaker system too. And, if yes, what are your impression?
For my ambient and my loudspeaker system this output power (more than 50 watt/8ohm) would be enough, so a only amp used for headphones and loudspeaker system too should be OK....
Many thanks in advance. Best regards.

I'm feeling what you're saying all the time. Every night I listen to the Beta22 and think how nice it sounds, then I come to work in the morning and my CKK-III doesn't impress me and makes me wish for the Beta22 again.

I'm thinking I might just have to build another one. *Wallet runs off screaming to have a nervous breakdown*

Hello pageman99!
I'd like to see how you have arranged the PCBs inside the main case.
Have you used larger heatsink since you use it to drive Loudspeakers system too?
Have you used 4 PCBs for PSU too.
What trasformer solution have you used for the PSU? I mean how many trasformenrs and with how many secondaries.
Escuse me for all these questions, but I would to know before to start with this amplifier.
Many thanks. Best regards.
Davide.
