UPDATE

Good News and Bad News

The Good news I have my short order being sent to me next week! So will be able to supply a small number of them soon.

The Bad News Chris at VHaudio informed me of the price increase of all the caps across the board

Hello. I hope business is going well for you!

As you know, numerous industries have been experiencing rapid increases in costs due to higher energy, transportation, and commodity prices, as well as higher labor costs.

V-Cap audio capacitors have not been immune to these increases. In the past, we’ve been able to successfully contain costs and stabilize pricing by buying increasingly larger volumes of materials, however this strategy has been maximized.

Rather than compromise the V-Cap product line by using inferior materials and/or less-skilled labor, we must share these increases with our customers.
We thank you for your business, and appreciate your continued support.

Best regards,

Chris VenHaus
I saw the price increase and its pretty significant. I will have to adjust the price of the products (both wood and metal versions) to reflect this increase.

Ken, can I just confirm that the cable that is included is attached to the v-caps enclosure via a mini input?

The Portable Vcap Dock will have a mini input, meaning that you have to use a ipod to mini plug cable. The Portable Vcap Dock will come with one of these cables.

So there is no hard wired cable on the Portable Vcap dock.

Does this portable dock only work with an iMOD Ken?

If not please explain how both could be possible for the less technicaly inclined

Ken,

I understand that the Portable Vcap Dock will have a mini input and that the package includes an ipod to mini plug cable... Will an additional cable be required to connect the Portable Vcap Dock to an amplifier or is that part of the package as well?

Also, what type of cable will be included, Jena Cryo, Silver or something else?

Hey Todd,

No the Vcap Docks are only for a iMod (currently 5.5Gs)

Hey Kevo,

Correct. you are going to need a cable to send the signal from the Vcap dock to your amp. I am not going to provide the cable for this as there are many configurations that differ wildly out there. I though it would be nice to include the ipod to Vcap dock cable for a couple reasons, one being that the length from iMod to Vcap Dock is going to be standard (short as can be). However the other, Vcap dock to amp, can be a RCA or a mini, can be very long or very short.

However I can make a cable for your needs for your specific amp (extra $$ of course). For instance I have a LISA3 amp made by my friends at www.TriadAudio.net and its uses a RCA input on the back. I will be making a very short RCA to RCA cable just for the Vcap dock to LISA3 amp. This will be optimized for that specific amp.

Hope this helps.

Would it be a good idea then to invest in a female iMod dock and a mini to mini silver cotton to hook up to my amp now then so I can invest in the portable V-Cap dock later?

E.G. Would the mini to mini be used? Also, could we add the charging function to the included Ipod Dock connector on the portable V-Cap dock?

I think so, personally. the female mini dock allows you to use any mini to RCA cable, etc. with your iMod without having to shell out for special cables with more caps each time. The nicest thing is that the burn in just happens once!

Mini-to-mini would be used if the input on your amp is a mini. But yes, the female LOD has a mini 1/8" connector.

Charging function on the portable v-cap dock is not going to happen, as per Ken's explanation above.

You would not be able to use the female iDock with the V-Cap dock because the female iDock already has the BG's. You would need any aftermarket Ipod line out dock with a quality mini to make the V-Cap dock work, or just wait and buy the one that Ken provides with the dock.

In other words, no!
Yep, immtbiker is correct, if I misunderstood the question. The v-cap dock can use a standard iPod (not iMod) LOD cable input.
That is true; however, I think the female iMod dock is still a good investment - you may not always want to use the iMod with the VDock (meaning you may want to take it on the road from time to time).

I know that the V-Cap dock will be able to use a regular ipod dock cable and I know that the female dock already has Blackgates, I didn't really explain myself well enough.

I do not want to wait any longer and want to upgrade later to a V-Cap portable, but get the iMod now. I would have to suck up the cost for the female adapter, but, like Skylab, think that this is a good investment for now. Thank you for letting me know for sure that the mini to mini would be fine. Now, I know that Ken also has a service to add charging capabilities to the iMod Dock Connectors currently (I plan to do this for my female adapter so that I can charge and listen, ESPECIALLY if the V-Cap dock won't). I also know that this V-Cap package will include a usual iPod dock cable. Why can we not add this charging function into it for "a small fee" like $85? This way, the enclosure with the caps itself does not have to charge for us and will remain just as portable.

This would mean using a power supply if you were wondering.

P.S. sounds like Ken may be able to take a short amount of orders, I would consider getting one but as there is no pricing out there, I can't tell if its above or below my $1000 limit on the iMod system with everything needed.

manaox2, I was wondering the same thing and sent Ken an email. He quickly got back to me with a price.

I am glad that there is no charging circuit, personally. Overcomplicates things, is more expensive, and has the possibility of introducing much unwanted noise. The absence of it surely harkens back to RWA's philosophy.
