But for me, no matter how hard you try with battery powered output, it will NEVER beat any so called $1500 digital CD player, none of them.
Sorry you are not more open minded!

I just want to contribue giving good things for the community to people who can do it. We even tried jensen caps ($50 per unit) or bigger black gate caps but it doesn't seem to perform as expected. But when I change the plan to make pre+buffer for improving signal, it sounds a lot better and not only for iMod but also laptop lineout too.

If you think that just caps alone can turn iPod to miracle 1k CDP, you are so wrong and I really can't admit that.

P.S. It seems vcap dock uses some sort of pcb with pre+buffer but I thought it was mini output jack. Sorry for arising this misunderstanding. Anyway, you should use stand IEC for power cord tweaks.

Interesting to consider the Hubble Telescope (or most solar powered satellites) as a gadget. I guess only satellites with plutonium reactors are real satellites.

I suppose the $3000 Sunderland Ph.D battery powered phono stage is lower on the food chain than mid-fi

Yeah, and the $25,000 battery powered ASR Emitter II power amp
is just a gadget as well.

What can I say... some people get it and some people don't

And what can I say? Low voltage in stock iPod battery is comparable to those? Get real, please.

Although I'm new here. I just wanna say. Are your so called $1500 CD players portable, WindowsX? At least Vinnie and Ken are making an effort to make products which improve SQ as well as being portable. Well of course you can't compare an iMod with Portable V-Caps with High end CD players as they are in two different categories. What people here want is good SQ and portability.

I'm crazy enough, I'd still compare. Whats to lose?

Hmm... My RWA Sig 30 "gadget" religated my $2400 40W per channel tube amp to the bottom shelf, it’s all lonely now. I think I heard it crying the other day.

Ken, it is obvious that you just dont have good enough power cords...

I'm referring to VCap dock, man. Yeah, it should sound better with extra preamp and buffer but as good as $1000 CDP.....I guess not. That's all. Why should we continue to tribute this arguement?

P.S. VCap dock is good idea but it lacks some little adjustments like IEC power input and fuse (I don't think small preamp+buffer in less than 500ma need fuse after all. My hifi-tuning fuse costs way more than power supply itself and it's almost impossible to be broken for common uses)
