I've bought a DHA3000 as a temporary solution to use with my L3000s...Anyone have any impressions? I hear so much about the L3000s, but nothing about its amp...

If it sounds anything like it looks, you'll have picked up a winner.

It was voiced for the L3000, so I'm sure it sounds ok :allteeth I just hope it beats my storm d02/millet hybrid combination for the amount i spent on it lol

Justin...I think you will be happy with your purchase. AYT999, Mbratude, Nomad, Fing and myself speak of this amp very highly with the L3000.

I wouldn't have bought it otherwise

I'd consider it, but the lack of analogue inputs kills it for me. I'd be extremely skeptical that the DAC in this unit is as good as the one I'll own someday. Otherwise it is a very cool unit, which I'd like to hear someday (why'd you have to leave CA, Alex? )

You could probably mod it to have an analog input without to much trouble I would think.

I've had it for a while too....just haven't been able to connect it due to lack of analog inputs...=(

I have high hopes for my l3k +dha3k combination as well....I'll soon compare them against a supra-xlr + l3k. (no, not balanced...yet)

i wont be able to hook my dha3k for at least a week....in the meantime, please give us your impressions, juzmister!

I'm pretty much over the whole modding thing. Especially when it comes to limited-edition, very aesthetically pleasing, and pricey units like the DHA3000.

The DAC inside is quite good actually. When I compared the SCD-1 + DHA3000 (via optical out) vs. SCD-1 analog out + HA2002 using the L3000 and W2002, both headphones sound better coming out of the DHA3000. In fact, agile_one really love the way the DHA3000 sound and even mentioned that the DHA3000 turned my iRiver IHP-140 to be a 1000 dollars source. Nomad also mentioned that the DAC inside the DHA3000 is comparable to Apogee Mini-DAC. IMO, the L3000 out of the DHA3000 sound very close if not on par to my SDS before the upgrade actually.

I don't doubt that it's quite a good source, otherwise it wouldn't be very useful. But I doubt it's as good a source as a unit that threefold more expensive and a dedicated source only.

Well...the SCD-1 in an excellent sounding SACD player but only a very good redbook player. IMO, the redbook on the SCD-1 is very comparable to the sound of SCD-777ES + Benchmark DAC. You can accomplish a lot on a properly design DAC/amp. The sound out of my DHA3000 is a level or two above of my HA2002 alone. I'm now using my DHA3000 + W2002 w/ L3000 at work. If you don't mind the lack of analog input, the DHA3000 is quite a great deal actually.
