I remember all those shows, and Automan was fun(ny). I could think of plenty of irritating things to do to friends with cursor. <evil grin> It had a good concept. The rest of that list? Let them RiP.
Star Trek led the pack, but everyone has their own favorite. No, Enterprise did NOT kill the series, it was Rick Berman. I can still remember how horrorfied ST fans were when the Next Gen was about to air. Typical crowd, never satisfied.
Ok, I'll agree the 80's was the "campy" time for television sci-fi, but I'd rather watch those old cylons anyday to the soap opera they are playing now. I don't give a frellin' credit who's sleeping or not sleeping around whith whom or with what!
I've heard a few other oldies but goodies named. Space 1999 was cool, but I prefered UFO. I bet the Thunderbirds would make a good show if they put some real talent into writing scripts. Quantum Leap was a great idea and had good actors. Another I enjoyed was
Starlost. But wow! You forgot a few...
Alf, Amazing Stories, Andromeda, Animorphis, Black Scorpion, Captain Scarlet, Dark Angel, Earth 2, Fireball XL5, First Wave, GvsE, Greatest American Hero, Hercules, Invisible Man, Land of the Giants, Lexx, Lost in Space, Millennium, Planet of the Apes, Pretender, Prisoner, Project UFO, PSI Factor Chronicles of the Paranormal, Red Dwarf, SeaQuest, Sentinel, Six Million Dollar Man, Smallville, Space Above and Beyond, Starlost, Strange World, TekWar, The Lone Gunnmen, Time Trax, Tomorrow People... <take a deep breath>... V: The Series, VR5, WitchBlade, Wonder Woman, Logan's Run, Alien Nation, American Gothic, Blakes 7, Code Named Eternity, Crusade, Earth - Final Conflict, Farscape, Firefly, Galidor, Harsh Realm, Highlander, Max Headroom, Land of the Lost, My Favorite Martion, Otherworld, Poltergeist the Legacy, Prey, Profiler, Roswell, Secret Adventures of Jules Verne, Seven Days, Sliders, Spider-Man, Stingray, Supercar, Swamp Thing, Tthe Invaders, Thunderbirds, Time Tunnel, Total Recall 2070, U.N.C.L.E., Ultraman, Wild, Wild West, Voyagers, Wizards & Warriors, X-Files, Deepwater Black/Mission Genesis, Xena, Maniac Mansion, My Mother the Car, Odyssey 5, Misfits of Science, Wiz Kids, City Beneath the Sea, Salvage-1...
Aww heck, there's just too many to list. See the
Top 100 Sci-Fi shows for a bunch, and there's still many missing even from that list.
IMHO, you can bury the new Flash and BSG. The industry is making me quickly weary of remakes. Stop canning all the fresh potentials! Bring back Firefly! I'm amazed at how dry and sad the industry has become to resort to remakes to make a buck. I'm not against remakes, just hate having things crammed down my throat. Soon it will be Batman vs Jason and King Kong is off to see the wizard. Billions of books and stories line library walls, thousands of creative minds roam the streets... and all we get are more Johnny Bravos... "because they fit the suit".
