That's why I returned to Grados/ Pictures of your Grados!

Just received my sr60s in the mail from TTVJ, and now after listening to the punchy and crisp vocals and popping drums, I can only smile after coming back to what I should have stayed with at the start! The sr60s were for me, like many others on this forum, an introduction into the world of hi-fi audio...and they are addictive! I eventually moved on to experiment with other budget phones...ksc35 and 75, um1s, every bud out there, and then tried out the former flagship HD580s from Sennheiser. Even after experimenting with these lower phones, there is no better value to me than these sr60s...although I am a little disappointed by the mechanical manmade flaws...there is something about the flaws that make the phone more unique...almost like no two cans are the same! Just wanted to share my thoughts...thoughts of a sr60 lover back on the wagon.

How about some grado love...from the cheapest to the $$$, from the lowest model to the greatest...let's see that grado lovin' in your pics!

You should have gone straight to the RS-1.

I tried experimenting with other brands before... and I always come back to the Grados. I really love what I have now and I can't think of anything that could make me happier at this point.

I totally agree. Right now my RS1s aren't working right and I'm getting them exchanged from Headroom. It's only been 3 days, but I miss listening to them. I've been listening to my AKG 701s and although I really like them I miss the Grado sound. I had a SR60 that I just started using, and I'm all smiles with my SR60s, while I wait for the GS1000s and RS1s to come in. Thank goodness for my spare

I don't believe I'd like to go through life without at least one set of Grados myself. Lots of fun for sure.

...welcome back!

filipelli,

My first "audiophile/higher-end" cans were Grado's SR-80. I sold them and got Darth's.

While I think the Darth's are probably the most awesome cans money can buy, I am missing my Grado's. I find that these two are the extremes and this is what I like, colored sound.

So now as my third pair of headphones I am getting is re-cabled MoonAudio 325i. I had the 80 for about 5 years and I enjoyed them. Took me quite a while to get the upgrade bug, but since I joined this.. it has gone crazy. So my upgrade path is pretty straight forward.

I would rather buy the higher end phones instead of spending on the lower end ones and selling them to slowly get to the higher end models. I feel that putting more money on the cans is the best investment as it is the component that makes the most difference in your chain.

Oh and if you have any vintage receiver with a really warm sound or tubes.. your Grado's will shine even more IMO!

Just my 2 cents,

Charles

I started with several crappy $20-$35 headphone before I splurged for my $57 SR60's. I'm so happy with them I see no need to spend more. They sound so great that when I close my eyes, it sounds like the singer is standing right next to me!

I watch movie's with them also. Several times I took my headphones off because I thought someone was knocking at the front door (but it was only the movie ).

As Grados are unaffordable in the EU, it's Alessandro that holds the flame here. I went through all phases between extended owner pride, unfulfilled selling plans and back again.

They are bitches you got to love or hate; indifference is impossible, especially with the MS2. One day they produce nothing but frowning & misgiving, next day you're so thrilled that you forget taking care for your alimentation.

And that's why I never left Grado.

Which (as it turns out) ended up costing me quite a bit of scratch, since I only continued to climb the Grado Ladder until I ended up with the PS-1s and a MAD EAR+ Purist HD.

I've been through (or currently own) the following during my Grado career:

SR-60
SR-80
SR-225
HF-1
HHF-1
MS-2i
RS-2
RS-1x2
GS-1000 x2
HP-2000
PS-1

Yeah, I suppose you could say I enjoy Grado headphones.

Curse or blessing? You decide...

Great collection, which do you still own?

there is something about my sr60 that gets me to listen to them more than my ms2i...on some days...

maybe its the comfort or the raw, in yo face! sound
