I spoke face-to-face with a UE rep on July 28th. He showed me his UE11's and pointed out where the four drivers are housed. They look pretty irresistible.
I was hung over when I talked to him, but from my memory here's what he told me:
1. In the next "couple weeks", UE is going to have a contest on several sites - he wasn't entirely sure but he said possibly Stereophile, iLounge, and maybe Head-Fi. I don't know what the terms are, but one winner from each site will get UE11's for nada.
2. For the first 60 days of their release, the 11's will only be available to people who already have ear impressions on file with UE. Price, as everyone knows by now, is $1150.
3. After those 60 days, they'll be available to everyone and the UE10's will be taken off the market for good. UE custom 5's and 7's will still be available at the current prices.
