Is it feasible to fit HD25 velour pads on ATH-ES7?
great work man! congrats!

Although in my preferences the ES7 would be a notch or 2 up , but that's just my preferences!

keep up and thanks!

Cheers!

Man, I couldnt agree more!! ES7 terrific HP, and I've been loving mine ever since I purchase them.

On the beginning I thought they were "fun" - which they are!... but they are so much more! they have magnificent drivers, provide so much pure detail with great great (almos open can) soundstage. Just love them!

Some times I see myself looking for them instead of SR325 to listen to some musics...

IMHO, strongly recommended. [My] Editor's choice!

Cheers!

ES7 also gets my vote. Something about these phones that clicks just right for me. My only gripe is thin pleather ear pads.

Maybe the ES7's don't fit your ears too well... they dominate isolation factors against the RP-21 for me, somewhere close to the K81DJ's.

Quick question for HD25 owners: why is it that the right earcup can be rotated but not the left? This headband makes no sense.

Nope, the HD25 pads are too small. I've found the ATH-SJ5 pleather pads are an exact fit for the ES7s, however, and offer tad more cushioning for my ears. Velour pads would be nice, though...

How did you take stock ear pads off?

Like most earpads I've encountered, they just need a little gentle pulling to stretch the lip of the pad over the sides of the earcup. The fact that the ES7s have a little indent in the part of the cup touching the headband also helps. I'd recommend starting there.

Thanks, I was under impression that they are permanently glued down.
Now, who will find matching velour for those?

Does anyone know how the isolation of the HD25 compares to IEMs and the HD280? I'm looking for a closed portable that isolates at least as well as my IEMs. I just need to give my ears a break from the IEMs on days when the pollen is high. I included the HD280 because they isolate as well as anything I've ever tried. They isolate better than my IEMs. They don't sound great and the cord is just too long and heavy for portable use.

Edit: Also, how well do the DT 770s isolate?

ONLY the HD25-1 provides near-IEM isolation.

AKG k171s would be a good addition to this roundup.

I haven't heard the HD25-1's but pete7 listened to my 171s and said they were better than he remembered the hd25-1 being.
