Since the Cowon: "I-Audio X5" and "X5L" have been discontinued, many people have speculated about the possible release of an X7 player. I just came across this article online...

http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/12/c...on-the-horizo/

Seems that according to this source, they "X7" will be released sometime in September. I'm really looking forward to this player and I hope that this site is correct about the approaching release date.

The moderator of iaudiophiles and dapreview said there wasnt going to be a x7. He said that after this new was posted. So I won't count on it.

This is a fake news.

Are you guys sure? I've been doing some research on the web recently, and many people have seemed pretty sure that the iaudio will be coming out soon.

I think I misunderstood the original "September' release info however. From what I've read it's not going to be released then. It's supposed to be announced by Cowon at the "European electronics show, IFA" in September.

So I guess well know for sure if the Iaudio X7 is or isn't coming out once the electronic show is over.

The guy on the 14th post in your thread says clearly no x7, and I guess he is somehow more inside cowon than others.

Well, I'll wait for the electronics show to know for sure. If the "X7" is announced I'll be very glad, but If it's not I suppose I'll just have to look for an alternative player since I'm playerless at the moment.

I am playerless too atm. And some more people too. I hate it. I wish I had a player and be happy with it. Now I am reading forums all day I never end up with a dap to my liking.

iaudio's eBay usually have some refurbished X5, try here.

Well, this is the most disappointing thread ever.

Not all hope is lost. I'm listning to my pre-release X7 through my pre-release Sennheiser HD750s while playing Duke Nukem Forever right now!

the x7 is still a rumor. a moderator on iAudiophile said he was told the X7 will not be released before the holiday season, but might be announced in september.

the cowon q5 does look promising though.

New Ipod should be first new player coming. I have high hopes of it. Seeing that the 5 and 5.5 sound technology is already 2 years old, there is a good chance it will be improved alot. Zune 2 is also rumoured. And new creative also, but not very strong. Trekstor vibez is more unlikely to get a new generation.
Anyway there is a strong rumour the Ipod 6g will be announced 7th august. Other companies cant lay low then so I guess they will also soon after announce their new player. So hold on a little longer!

Wishful thinking. From what I gather, the headphone-out quality of the iPod's, except the 1st generation Shuffle, has always been lacking since it was first introduced. I'm sure the line-out has improved, but if a person is interested in the X7, chances are they are more interested in a good sound headphone out.

That being said, Microsoft said to expect a new Zune by the holidays, as supposedly they are starting mass production at the end of this month.

the Zune2 should be interesting if they open up the wifi to accomplish more than just share songs; wireless synch and internet radio would be at the top of my list.

I owned an X5 a few years ago; great player - too bad I sold it
