Do most of you think the Shures just kill the UE's (unamped that is)?

The Super Fi's are my more recent purchase but why do I enjoy listening to the Super Fi's just as much as the Shures? I think they especially make older recordings sound really good. The laid backness and slight veil of the E500 almost gets (can't believe I'd say this) boring. I must be spoiled. But the Super Fi's just seem so crystal clear. They suffer from a little siblance at times but it's certainly not bad or anything.

I wonder how the Super Fi's would sound with a higher 29-36 ohm range impedance? A little more refined maybe? Would that be just a cable swap out or do the drivers have something to do with the ohm rating as well?

I like the Super.Fi 5 Pros just fine and reach for them just as often as the E500's. The bass on the SF's is full, they have some soundstage and are dynamic for around one-half the price of the Shures.

The Shures are more detailed, but the SF's are musical.

Me too but too bad they are not as comfortable as the Shure E500PTH's; otherwise I wouldn't have chosen the E500's.

I dont' think this is a far comparison since one is dual driver while the other uses triple drivers. However, they both have some similarities in sound; but in this case I would say the E500 is superior. Comparing the E500 to the Triple.fi 10 Pro would be a different story.
