Well if i use an optical cable i wont have analogue sound for games unless i can use both optical(digital) and analogue cables right? I read somewhere i on head fi. basically i would like to use both if possible but need the analogue for games i believe.

with an external dac your x-fi soundcard can act solely as transport so should be able to pass all pc sounds to the zhalou.

I have my UA-5 soundcard connected via coax to my mini-dac and have no problem in hearing the music or games on my pc.

You will need to use the analogue out from your X-Fi to your Z-5500's. This will give you your surround sound for games and movies.

Then you need a digital coax IC with a mini plug on one end to go from the digital out on your X-fi to your Zhaolu.

I would honestly suggest you ditch the 5.1 setup and go all headphones for gaming too, but that's just me.

bluejeanscable will custom build you the digital IC you need. I have a spare if you want to buy a used one.
