Looks like we have an Australian contingent building up!

It would be so cool to have an electrostat only meet. We could even torture dynamics by hooking them up to some HV and watch them squirm...

i accidently join this club without knowing anything about this earspeaker .bought it when headfi is down. judging from the positive feedback from people on this thread, seem like i made a good buy.i had a non-pro sr-sigma with the sdb7sb adaptor. dont have any speaker amp or stax amp yet. splitzer recommend the blue hawaii or kgss, did a search , the price tag of those amp seem to be out of my reach. are any other speaker amp or stax amp that can drive my non-pro sr-sigma but at a more reasonable price

Pretty much any speaker amp with more the 3w worth of power can drive them well. If you are handy with a soldering iron it is well worth it to rewire the SRD-7 with some better wire and connect the input directly to the transformers.

A shame to have to do that to a working set, but it's been impossible to just find a non-working Sigma (and time keeps marching on in terms of pushing their value up!).

Congrats! I think one of the Sigmas I have stored away in Japan might have a failed driver but I wont know until I get them. If they are then I'm going to install some 404 drivers and a new cable. I only hope they will be half as good as my DIY SR-X Mk3 Pro

can a trend audio t-10.1 t-class amp drive the non pro sigma or is it better to get some tube speaker amp? where can u get this 0404 driver and cable?

I would rather listen to them unamped then use those toys but they will work in a pinch. The best option is to pickup a used amp from the 70's, be it tube or SS, as that will give you the most value.

The 404 drivers and cable are the parts that make up the SR-404 headphone. The drivers and cable can be installed in a Sigma shell but it isn't cheap.

is the srm-1/mk2 pro amp good enough to drive it?
how much is the market value for this thing?
yes - the SRM1 Mk 2 Pro will drive it and the earlier Professional series headphones quite well (up to the Lambda Nova Signature series). After those, the efficiency had dropped significantly and I would suggest either a SRM 717, 727, or other non-stax amps.
I have a 404/Sigma which was not driven well with an SRM1 Mk 2, whereas the 717 drives it well.

Wait, not wishing to hijack the thread but what did you do with your SR-X? was it a gamma pro transplant or did you go deeper into modding territory? Enquiring minds need to know.
