Sorry I should have been clearer.

I understand what you mean, but there are whole instruments missing on some tracks. Of course the instruments I'm referring to never appear above maybe around 40hz...

This is on IASCA test discs, not exactly everyday listening but I use it to evaluate new equipment or changes.

In normal music, you're would be right of course.

Rockbox is a huge improvement for the X5 in both the HP-out and line-out.

Yeah...I've been meaning to rockbox my X5...I should get around to that.

Hi all...coming into this thread a bit late...
I have had the x5 for about 6 weeks and do tend to prefer the hp out to the line out...but am not really crazy about either. Am using the 6 inch cardas IC; xenox epc amp; and seens 580. Altho alot of people shy away from using the eq in these daps...have any of you had sucess in this area One poster mentioned that improvement was heard after installing rockbox. Is there a certain version or build that works best with the x5 and can it be double booted i.e. go back to using cowon firmware.
thanks Dan

I know it's been ages since anyone posted on this but........

Does anyone know if these conclusions still hold true, and has anyone been able to find a ALO for the X5?
