SOLD.

For sale: Red Wine Audio Monica 2 DAC originally purchased from Borat in this thread.

The Monica 2's condition is the same as when I received it. I noticed that the battery held a charge for a very, very long time, quite a bit longer than my Storm D02. I found it had the same battery-powered holographic quality that my D02 has. The Monica 2's battery operation lends it a very vibrant sense of detail and space inside the modest soundstage it throws out. It is more forgiving and sounds more NOS than the D02, and is analog-ish in the same way the DAC-AH is. However, I prefer it greatly to the Pacific-Valve modded DAC-AH M1 I owned.

Reviews: positive-feedback and 6moons.

From here on out I am simply going to steal sections of Borat's description and his picture.

::::::::

This is a superb sounding non-oversampling DAC that utilizes the Philips TDA1545A DAC chip and runs on clean 12V SLA battery power. The board is populated with high quality parts using Black Gates and Sanyo Oscon capacitors. The DAC and battery are housed inside of a slick looking Context Engineering metal case. The lights on the front indicate power and digital signal status. There is a switch on the back to select between "on" or "off/charge battery".

I asked Vinnie Rossi of Red Wine why he doesn't sell the Monica 2 anymore and he responded,

"I have become extremely busy with building my Signature series amplifiers, Olive music server modifications, and iMods. I had to trim certain products from my product line because I don't have the time to keep up with so many different products. This is the only reason."

This particular DAC has the larger capacity battery option that Red Wine offered new for $549 originally. I'm not exactly sure how many hours a single charge can hold, but I've recently left it running from morning until late night and it was still going strong. I've never encountered problems with the battery dying before I was done listening. The DAC features a BNC digital input, but if you prefer to use RCA coaxial, the sale includes the RCA-BNC adapter pictured above. I will also throw in a free BNC-BNC cable (not pictured).

:::::::::

The Monica 2 includes everything listed in Borat's sale above. I am asking SOLD. That price includes USPS Priority Mail to the CONUS. No PayPal fee. PayPal or money order accepted. US preferred, Canada considered. PM me with any questions.
