Woo 6 is HEEEEEERE!!!! v [PICS] - Page 2

I've heard good things about Herbie's. I think the jury's still out on what type of effect dampers will have on the sound though. Please share your impressions. I'm thinking of getting those as well.

Before you do... be aware that part of the "magic" of tubes is the subtle euphony inherent in the tube, which tube dampers tend to "dampen" - making tubes less euphonic and tube-like, and more SS like. So unless you really have a problem with microphonics in your tubes (i.e. ringing, excessive distortion, etc.), or unless you just want more of a SS sound - don't waste your money on tube dampers.

Went out to BB&B and picked up a bamboo-slate turntable/lazy-susan/rotating platform for the WA6 so that I can move freely between desk and sofa. Found a coaster holder on the way to check-out and bought that for the iMod as well. No worries, the black vakaadoo case is coming.

And again in all its tubey goodness (excuse my $hitty camera...the AF couldn't find the WA6 in the dark )

CONGRATS!

Interesting, I'm never above about 9-10 o'clock on mine. I would be deaf if it were at 1 o'clock. All of my sources seem to have decent output. Enjoy your wonderful new amp. I've never though once of getting rid of it or upgrading it(other than new tubes).

Sweet setup, but why the 580 in particular?

I don't have the Woo but my bass tightened up as the caps grew in strength. Sound stage also opened up.

Enjoy the music.

Hmmm...interesting, anyone else attest to this as a general outcome of cap strength?

i got it here. depends on length. mine was 1.5m so $199. but i'm told this is introductory pricing...its a smaller outfit you might be able to get a better deal if you ask for a discount. just tell them you're a prominent member from head-fi and see what they'll do for you

i just cannot believe how black the nothingness is when my source is paused! and this is with A/C running on energy-save elsewhere in my one bedroom apartment!

Yes. Yes you must.

But honestly, I just still cannot believe a system can be THIS silent not after I heard that other guy's power buzzing...

WA6 sounds great, I've been playing everything from Symphonies to Pianoworks to Pianotrios out of it.

In response to the inquiry of which source requires more gain from the WA6, for some reason its not happening anymore I'm at 10:30 or so and its just right.

When you guys say "warm up" do you mean that you're playing music out of the HP but not listening? Or do you mean just turn it on?
