What fun stuff do you do to your pets? - Page 2

My Wife likes to go to party stores and buy a Headornament/hat for each and every Holiday...then we take pictures of our Labrador each Holiday, with the hat/headdress for the holiday on her head. We have quite a collection of Jet pics, with her suffering the rediculosity in good spirits.

We have taught her some "tricks" that are less common:

She can follow hand signals for Sit, Stay, go left, go right, go farther, come back towards, Down, Head down, too.

She follows whistle commands for Stop, Stay, Go Left, Go Right, and Come.

We trained her to Shake (as in fling water off her fur) on command, so she is not so wet when she comes in the house.

She knows that she can get a treat whenever she wants one, by recycling any paper plates or trash she finds on the floor...she will be lying around, then decide she wants a treat, and she will look for anything she can bring to put it in the trash - old paper plates, toys that she has "gutted" - (pulled the stuffing out and shredded the cover).

Now, how much do you want to bet that she's also smart enough to tear up a toy just to throw it out and get the treat?

I dance with my dog. Basically I just do some goofy nonsense dance and my dog gets all excited and starts walking around me, going between my legs, gets a little jumpy, etc. She loves it

I have a greyhound- specifically a retired racing greyhound. I like to take her to fenced in parks and let her run. It is an absolute blast. It's like a stampede when she goes running by. Granted, she only runs for about a minute - but it's freaking hilarious. She's the greatest dog ever!

There was a "Summer Accessories" for your dog segment on The Today Show a couple of weeks ago. One of the featured "accessories" was "Doggles." (goggles for dogs...) Our dog is frequently in the backseat of the car and loves the head out of the window routine. We thought that the doggles would protect her from eye injury. We got them, the dog looks hilarious, and keeps them on without a fuss...

Your post makes me feel like we need something akin to "This Thread is Useless without Pics", but instead of "Thread", replace it with "Post".

Let's see that dog with her doggles!

Not very good at the posting-the-picture-thing, but I'll give it another try...

After a dogless childhood, I have spent the last twenty years with one or two spaniels at all times. Since I office out of the house, we spend large parts of each day together. It has not gotten old, either for them or me. What we do in a day: wake up in the rack and snuggle, SWMBO gets close interactions while she's getting ready to take girls out for their morning run, morning run in the dew with bunnies, chipmunks, squirrels, breakfast with gusto, supervise the old boy while he works, more runs and treats, nap with old boy, thump tails to various combinations of their nick names whispered in their ears, establish spaniel arc of telepathic control to try to advance dinner time (works best with three as a triangle), dinner with gusto, help old boy fix people dinner (pray for gravity), lay under table during people dinner (continue gravity prayers), frisbee, walk, chewbones, sip of OB's beer, and rack out with old man. Additionally, there are the Spaniels' Spring and Fall vacations to the woods, car rides, Halloween costumes, Christmas stockings, visits to the spaniels' other people and dog friends, UPS and FedEx guy visits, nice Bank tellers who put biscuits in the tube at the drive-thru, and the random unexpected thrill. I think we can leave out trips to the Vet.
