Actually, California ($1.62 trillion) is much closer to Italy ($1.85 trillion) than France ($2.23 trillion).

I'm way more Italian than I am French anyway.

Thanks BlessingX, what a terrific map.

I always knew there was something intimate between Alabama and Iran. Perhaps the fact that our states are both in agreement that society reached its apex in the 13th century helps.

I only wish the numbers were included as well, but definitely a cool image.

Being an economist, the first flaw is that it should be measured in GNP (Gross National Product) to show the true size of the state/country. Never the less, its quite interesting to see Alabama being equal to Iran in economic value.

No kidding. Jersey = Russia. That is something I would never imagine.

Great map x. *looking gift horse in the mouth* Now I would love to view a per capita version, or one adjusted for standard of living.
