So, you're on a deserted island...

And you can only bring with you one pair of headphones, and one headphone amp? What would they be?

If I could use an amplifier with them, I think I'd be leaning towards my HD650s, because I feel that they're a better all rounder than the AKG K701s. My second choice would be my Etymotic ER4S. While they definitely sound better with an amp, I think they sound very good without an amp.

HEV90. It would keep me warm at night in my cave.

My Grado woodies and EMP (little hand warmer!). They sound better than all the others plus I could start a fire with them when things got really desperate.
Actually it'd be more a case of falling asleep with hypothermia while you listen to that album just one more time....

An HE90 and (screw the amp) an eH350. Sell the HE90 for food and survive and still have headphones. :P

In those circumstances I'd have to go with my 32 ohm Darthbeyers.

Balanced Sony R10 and Singlepower SDS-XLR

Due to the stated circumstances and because they are closed, I'd choose the Stax 4070s (block out external noise) and KGSS (no need to replace tubes).

One set; huh?

Well; since I have Tinnitus and it gets to be variable sometimes depending on medication and diet, and food can be a problem on an island like that, then probably my HD600 would be the choice since they sound better to me when my ears are ringing for quite a large range of music. Actually they sound great for a wide range of music even when my ears aren't ringing!

Also; they would help to keep me calm in this very stressful situation....no; not asleep!

However; if I needed to stay really active and alert and constantly on edge for survival sake, then perhaps the MS2i.....shucks; I dunno.

well i still consier my ultrasone proline 750's to be my best headphones, and i only have one amp, the go-vibe v5.

It wouldn't matter, because (according to your rules) I wouldn't have a source, or any CDs to play - just a pair of phones and an amplifier. Hence no music to listen to. Plus if you did allow a source and CDs, what would I plug all of my gear into?

With that in mind, I would probably want these with me:

That way I could fabricate some sort of a device that would focus the suns rays in hopes of starting a fire. Also, I could potentially use them to signal a passing airplane or boat and I could get rescued and returned to my beloved Headphone collection back home. I suppose the crystals could also be used as fish bait (some fish will attack/are attracted to shiny objects) - that way I could attract and catch fish and have something to eat.

But If I am to completely suspend all disbelief, and assume that I am allowed 1 source, 1 set of phones, 1 amplifier, my entire music collection, all necessary interconnects and an endless supply of electricity to power everything, I would flip a coin, if it landed on heads, I would take my K-1000s and a Pass Labs Aleph 3, if it landed on tails, I would take my PS-1s and my MAD Ear+ Purist HD with a 50 year supply of tubes.

Ahh crap, I forgot about pads... I would also want a nice sized supply of flats and bowls!

Well, on a warm island, I'd take my Melos SHA-1 - HP-2

On a cold island I'd take my Aleph 3 - K-1000 (it would up the temperature of the whole island by 10 degrees)

While hunting I'd have to have an RS-1 to get me hyped up for the hunt.

I'd have to have a Senn HD650 to help me fall asleep at night.

And Jecklin floats for obvious reasons
